2008 Nov O-level Amath Paper 1 (Answers)

Dear all, this is my answers to 2008 Nov O-level Amath Paper 1.

For some of you out there who scored full marks for this paper, please don't be complacent. The weightage of this paper is 44% of your Amath so it is not even half the battle won. You should expect a killer paper for Paper 2. So don't let off your guard.

For those of you who already have some marks deducted, don't despair. You still have Paper 2, whose weightage is 56%. And I still stick on to what I have said before, if you have never scored an A1 before, it doesn't mean that you won't score A1 in O-level. It may just be the only time you score an A1.

For paper 2 on Friday, please focus on all these :

- logarithms & surds

- remainder & factor theorem

- coordinate geometry & equation of circles

- sum & products of roots

- the modulus functions

- ln & exp graph

- double angle, addition formula & R-formula

- rates of change

- integration : area under curve

- plane geometry

But you still have to revise your Trigonometry, Differentiation & Integration... remember that the weightage for paper 2 is 56%... make or break may just depend on this paper no matter you have scored full marks in paper 1 or not.

Judging from the above, there is still many stuff that has not been tested... please don't take things lightly..

For coordinate geometry & equation of circles, you have to be SUPER CAREFUL in case you make careless mistakes.

On Friday, you will be having Emath Paper 1 in the morning, followed by Amath Paper 2 in the afternoon. So for those taking both, it is a MATH DAY. So do let your brain cells rest well on Thursday night.

If I can get the question paper for Amath Paper 2 after your exam on Friday (that means one of you got to pass it to me :P), I will work out the answers and post it here by 12 midnight on Friday.

Dear all, this is my answers to 2008 Nov O-level Amath Paper 2.

For Question 8, I forgot to insert in the absolute graph of the graph of

y = 4cos2x - 2. Please take note.

How to Calculate Amath Marks

You may be interested to calculate your overall Amaths marks. The calculation goes like this :

Let a = your marks on Amath paper 1

&   b = your marks on Amath paper 2

Your overall marks = 44(a/80 x 100) + 56(b/100)
